About Us

The Council of Lutheran Women is an auxiliary of the Lutheran Center Association and was founded in 1964 through the efforts of Lutheran Center Association director Rev. Kenneth Lindsay and a group of interested LCMS women. The Council is a federation of Detroit metropolitan area Lutheran Women’s organizations. Members share vital concerns and combine their efforts to exert on these concerns a strong Christian witness in word and deed.

The purpose of the Council is to:

  • Unite the efforts of affiliated women’s organizations to exert a Christian influence in local communities and in the metropolitan Detroit area.
  • Help one another in carrying on significant activities and performing beneficial services.
  • Encourage better understanding of the objectives of member organizations.
  • Offer educational programs to women’s organizations.
  • Cooperate with local/community/area groups and agencies as approved by the Council.
